Mindfulness

There is something wonderfully bold and liberating about saying yes to our entire imperfect and messy life.”  -- Tara Brach

Mindfulness is a way to experience life by developing the ability to pay attention to the present moment in a special way. The ability to notice the current moment with 1) curiosity, 2) acceptance, 3) withholding judgments, 4) no immediate action, and 5) simply observing.

Practicing Mindfulness allows us not only to pay attention to the beauty of the moment, but it allows us to manage stress and difficulties of the moment by simply observing without immediate action. This gives us the freedom to let the feelings of the moment settle and allow creative ideas to flow to manage the issue on hand. Mindfulness allows us to remember the pleasantness well and to honor the unpleasantness by allowing it to stay as long as it needs. Unpleasantness can teach us valuable lessons. Mindfulness allows us not to skip those lessons.

Originally taught by Buddha, it has travelled far and wide, including the labs of western neuroscientists and universities. Modern version of Mindfulness has become a psychological tool for wellbeing.
